Harvey June Gilland, 84, of Waveland passed away peacefully Saturday, Aug. 7, 2021, at his home.

He was born June 24, 1937, at Whitesville, to the late Anxel and Carrie Gilland. He married Joyce Calvert on Aug. 7, 1959, at Waveland, and they shared 62 wonderful years of marriage. She survives.

Harvey attended New Market High School. He proudly served our country in the United States Air Force. Upon returning home he worked at and retired from Plastene after 42 years. He was a member of the American Legion. He loved to travel, spend time with his grandchildren, and British sports cars.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce; son Daryl (Cathy) Gilland; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and brother Earl Gilland.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother William Gilland; and son Harvey June Gilland Jr.

Funeral service will be at 6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 12 at Machledt & Servies Funeral Home, 301 E. Green St., Waveland, with Pastor Mark Roberts officiating and military honors. Visitation with the family will be from 4 p.m. Thursday until the time of service at the funeral home.
