Samuel J. Monroe

Samuel J. Monroe of Crawfordsville finished his job on earth and passed peacefully Monday afternoon Aug. 16, 2021, at home. He was 61.

Sam had been a hoist driver for LSC Communications the past 10 years. He loved to play golf and go fishing. He was a huge fan of the Chicago Cubs and the Iowa Hawkeyes. Sam also enjoyed listening to music and going to concerts, of which he attended hundreds. Sam also enjoyed traveling. Most importantly, he loved his family immensely and enjoyed the time he spent with them.

Born Sept. 15, 1959, at Waterloo, Iowa, Sam was the son of Ronald Monroe and Barb Marmie Monroe. He graduated from Denver High School in Denver, Iowa. He married the former Jeannie O’Connor. She survives.

Surviving family includes: wife, Jeannie Monroe; three sons, Joel Monroe, Cam (Ellen) Monroe and Christopher White; and two sisters, Diane Schmadeake and Liz Haugen.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Joel.

There will not be any public services. A small gathering of family and friends to remember him will take place at home.
