She was born July 13, 1933, at Frankfort, to Edward and Catherine (Loveless) Lowery. She graduated from Lebanon High School in 1951. On May 9, 1953, she married Donald L. Maxwell. He preceded her in death in 2011. Carolyn was a farm wife and enjoyed gardening, reading, sewing, crafts, harness racing and fishing. Most of all she enjoyed time spent with family and watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren participate in school activities and sporting events. For 26 years she served as Trustee for Sugar Creek Township.

Carolyn was a member of Colfax Christian Church and enjoyed helping with VBS, participating in Bible studies, and helping prepare Christmas cookie trays. She was also a member of the Darlington Legion Auxiliary and the Darlington Conservation Club.

Left behind to cherish her memory are three children, Cindy Eaton of Lafayette, David Maxwell of Channahon, Illinois, and Richard Maxwell of Colfax. She was a beloved Grandma of four: Kara (Todd) Rees, Brian (Tasha) Eaton, Jessica Maxwell and Kyle Maxwell, and an adored G.G. of four: Ryker Eaton, Rowen Eaton, Hannah Rees and Maggie Rees. Her brother, Max (Marilyn) Lowery, also survives along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to her husband, Donald, and her parents, she was preceded in death by daughter Cathy; son-in-law Bob Eaton; infant grandson Brandon Maxwell; and infant sister Nora.

Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 19 at Genda Funeral Home, Frankfort. The funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 20 at the funeral home, with Pastor Paul Del Valley officiating. Burial will follow in Green Lawn Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Colfax Christian Church, Darlington Public Library or Darlington Conservation Club.
