Wanda L. Clarkston

Wanda L. Clarkston, 76, of rural Hillsboro passed away at 9:01 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 22, 2021, at her residence, with her family at her side.

Wanda was born March 2, 1945, at Cates, the daughter of John and Inez (Mitchell) Towell. She married John C. Clarkston on March 30, 1963, at Cates.

She is preceded in death by her parents; sister Brenda Storckman; and brother Denny Towell.

Surviving family include: her husband, John C. Clarkston, Hillsboro; two daughters, Linda (Ron) Walls, Evansville, and Buffy (Randy) White, Covington; son Ed (Lori) Clarkston, Hillsboro; sister Nancy Douglas, Kingman; six grandchildren, Kyle (Brittany) Stanton, Kari (Brandon) McNeely, Cassie (Nathan) Lea, Aaron (Jessica) White, Caden Lynn, Abby (Ross) Columbia; and eight great-grandchildren.

Wanda had attended school in Cates and graduated from Kingman High School in 1963. She was a member of Cates Community Church, where she enjoyed her church family and loved serving the Lord there with them. She enjoyed gardening and cooking; she always insisted on feeding whoever might stop by to visit, you never left her house hungry. More than anything she loved and enjoyed her family.

She had been employed by Steel Grip for more than 20 years prior to her retirement. But she will be best remembered as a wonderful homemaker, a loving wife, mother and grandmother.

Visitation will be noon to 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 26 at Dickerson Funeral Home, Veedersburg. Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with Pastor Dusty Woodrow officiating. Burial will be at Coal Creek (Snoddy’s) Cemetery near Stringtown.
