Russell E. Bowman

Russell E. Bowman, 89, of Brazil, Indiana, passed away at St. Vincent Clay Hospital, on August 22, 2021.

Russell was born on August 19, 1932, the son of Clarence and Elsie Mae (Rumple) Bowman. He served his country in the United States Air Force.

Russell worked for Peabody Coal Mine as a heavy equipment operator. He loved working on tractors and tinkering around the house. He also enjoyed woodworking, gardening, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Amongst many other attributes, Russell will be remembered for his since of humor and love of a good joke.

Russell was preceded in death by his parents Clarence and Elsie Bowman; his first wife Marilyn (Lark) Bowman; siblings: Kenneth Bowman, Charles Bowman, Clarence “Junior” Bowman, Clifford Bowman, Hazel Parrish, and Colleen Smith.

He is survived by his wife Charlene (Messer) Bowman whom he married on November 11, 2004; two sons Randy Bowman and wife Jerri and Troy Bowman and wife Stefanie; step-daughters: Angela Parrish and husband Dennis and Kimberly Wynkoop and husband Troy; grandchildren: Andra Wolfe (Kevin), Eric Bowman (Paige), Connor Bowman, Macie Bowman, Samantha Gerbus (Nate), Alexandra Parrish, Madison Parrish, Jackson Parrish, Gary Deaton, Emma Deaton, Kylea Utterback (Justin), and Shelbi Wynkoop; great-grandchildren: Avery, Camryn, Raegan, Reid, Ellasyn, Tucker, Oliver, and Violet; a sister Mary Alice Lowdermilk; sister-in-law Donna Bowman; his beloved companion Murphy; as well as many extended family members and friends.

Visitation will be at Lawson – Miller Chapel, 1702 E. National Ave. Brazil, Indiana 47834, on Friday, August 27, 2021 from 3-7pm. Services will follow at 7:00pm, at the funeral home, with military honors provided by members of the United States Air Force, VFW, and American Legion.
