Viola Dillon Kirkpatrick

Viola Dillon Kirkpatrick, 95, of Crawfordsville and formerly of Rockville, passed away Sunday, Aug. 22 at Carriage Crossing in Paris, Illinois.

She was a homemaker and owner of Spinning Wheel Yarn Shop in Rockville.

She was born March 3, 1926, at Lodi, Indiana, to the late James Stine and Myrtle Lunger Stine. Her husband of 34 years, Gordon Lee Dillon, whom she married Oct. 24, 1943, passed away Oct. 27, 1977. On April 17, 1980, she married Edward C. Kirkpatrick. He passed away June 14, 2001.

Survivors include: children, Pat Holycross of Charleston, Illinois and James Michael Dillon of Holiday, Florida; step-children, Mary (Dan) Russell of Rockville and Marty (Patty) Kirkpatrick of Rockville; son-in-law George Crum of New Market; daughter-in-law Hea Dillon of Loveland, Colorado; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by son David Dillon; daughter Bonnie Crum;  step-son Steve Kirkpatrick; son-in-law Tom Holycross; brother Max William Stine; and sisters, Wilma Boswell and Rosalie Alvey.

She was a 1944 graduate of Tangier High School. She was a member of Friendship Baptist Church in Crawfordsville and former member of Waterman Baptist Church in Lodi and Rockville Baptist Church. She also was a member of Hoosier Heritage Spinners and Weavers Association and Parke County Quilters Club.

Services will be at noon Saturday, Aug. 28, at Gooch Funeral Home, 112 W. Howard St., Rockville, with Pastor Chris Horton officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Garden Cemetery in Rockville. Visitation is 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at the funeral home.
