Dawn Ireland Whiteman

Dawn L. Ireland Whiteman, 80, of Crawfordsville passed away Tuesday evening, Aug. 24, 2021, at Hickory Creek.

Born July 18, 1941, at Alexandria, Virginia, she was the daughter of William Brown and Gertrude Brown. She attended school in Alexandria. She was married to James E. Ireland and they served in the mission field with Village Missions in Finchford, Iowa, Yountsville, Indiana and West Liberty, Ohio. He passed away in 2007. She married Charles H. Whiteman in 2013. He survives.

During her time as a minister’s wife, she lived to serve the people. She was a member of Liberty Chapel and the Ladies Aid. She helped with VBS and many other church projects. She was self-taught in many things and loved to travel.

Surviving family includes: husband Charlie Whiteman; daughter Cherie Brady Carty (Robert) of Germantown, Wisconsin; son William S. Ireland (Deb Nelson) of Crawfordsville; granddaughter MacKenzie Carty; two grandsons, Brenden Carty and Mathew Brock Ireland; three step-sons, Gary Whiteman of Springville, Indiana, Scott Whiteman of Lafayette and Karl Whiteman of San Antonio, Texas; and niece Roxanne Brown Ankney.

She was preceded in death by sister Dolores “DoDee” Brown.

Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 28 at Liberty Chapel, 3942 W. C.R. 500N, Crawfordsville. Services will begin at 2 p.m., led by Pastor Jim Canady. Burial will follow at Liberty Chapel Cemetery. Arrangements were entrusted to Burkhart Funeral Home.
