Lloyd Lee Nickless

Lloyd Lee Nickless, 87, of Clay City, Indiana, passed away at home on August 27, 2021.

He was born on June 29, 1934, in Pimento, Indiana, the son of Virgil and Ruby Mae (Shephard) Nickless. He graduated from Pimento High School with the class of 1952. As a young man he boxed in the Golden Gloves boxing league. Lloyd worked as a press operator for the Tribune Star and the Houston Chronical and Post in Houston, Texas. Following retiring from the Tribune Star he established his own business as a handy-man and house painter.

Lloyd loved his family, especially his grandchildren. He also enjoyed taking children on pony rides and attending to his horses. Lloyd was a member and past deacon of the Good Hope Baptist Church, in Clay City.

Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents Virgil and Ruby Nickless; brothers John Nickless, Harold “Nick” Nickless, and Joe Nickless; a granddaughter Jessica Nickless.

Lloyd is survived by his wife Karenina Jacqueline (Storm) Nickless whom he married on March 28, 1954. He is also survived by 2 sons: Monte Nickless and wife Tamara of Linton, Indiana and Eric Nickless and wife Karen of Coal City, Indiana; a daughter Melyssa Greer and husband Tom of Indianapolis, Indiana; grandchildren: Jason Minnick, Mark Minnick, Andrea Flemming, Ashlee Lopez, Anna Boland, Amy Fondriest, and Oaklee Nickless; several great-grandchildren; a sister Mary Adams and husband George of Indianapolis as well as a host of extended family members and friends.

Visitation will be held at Good Hope Baptist Church, on Monday, August 30, 2021 from 4-8pm. Services will be held at the church, on Tuesday, at 2:00pm with visitation one hour prior. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery. Donations may be made in Lloyd’s memory to the Good Hope Baptist Church 440 County Rd 850, Clay City, IN 47841.
