James William "Bill" Garlit

December 4, 1957 - September 2, 2021

James William “Bill” Garlit, 63, of Clay City, Indiana, passed away at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana on September 2, 2021.

Bill was born on December 4, 1957, in Brazil, Indiana, the son of Richard and Elaine (Arnold) Garlit. He graduated from Clay City High School with the class of 1977. Follow high school he attended Indiana Vocational College for a short time. He attended the Clay City First United Methodist Church and was a member of the Clay City VFW. As a young man he enjoyed playing basketball. He also enjoyed spending time fishing.

Bill was preceded in death by his father Richard Garlit.

Survivors include his mother Elaine Garlit, a sister Brenda (Garlit) Barrett, and a niece Casey Barrett.

Cremation services have been entrusted to Schoppenhorst Funeral Home, in Clay City.

Bill donated over 120 units of blood over his lifetime. Bill’s family encourages you to donate blood as often as possible.
