Geraldine A. Smith died at 2:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 10, 2021.

She was born Dec. 9, 1927, on a farm in Ripley Township, to Harry E. and Mary Henrey Hughes. She graduated from Alamo High School in 1945. She was valedictorian of her class. She was a member of Alamo Christian Church and Alamo Eastern Star.

She married Robert L. Smith in 1972, at Mace. He died March 2, 2017.

She retired from RR Donnelley & Sons after 46 years.

Survivors include: sister-in-law Jean Hughes of Hannibal, Missouri; nephew Lee Sprulin; children Beth Sankphill (Steve) of Hannibal, Missouri, and Robert L. Smith Jr., Crawfordsville; two step-grandchildren, Bobby and Leann; cousin Diana Smith of Waveland; sister-in-law Betty Derringer (Jim); and great-grandson Jason.

She was preceded in death by daughter-in-law Susan Smith; brother Harry Hughes Jr.; three aunts; and several cousins.
