James E. Royer, 72, of Sullivan, Indiana, passed away at 5:04 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 12, 2021, surrounded by his family. He was born June 4, 1949, to Richard and Imogene Royer, who preceded him in death.

Jim spent most of his life working on the family farm and later in life as an over-the-road truck driver for Morris Trucking Corp. He was a kind and caring husband, father and grandfather who took care of his family. He enjoyed watching the grandkids play sports, NASCAR, trips to Disney World and the beach. We will remember him for his sense of humor and twinkling blue eyes.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Beverly (Musgrave) Royer, whom he married Aug. 30, 1969. Survivors also include daughter Jennifer Royer of Indianapolis; son Michael A. Royer and Mary Jo of Sullivan; grandchildren Emma Royer and Evan Royer of Sullivan, and Emery Whitehead of Indianapolis; brother Michael D. Royer and Amy of Birmingham, Alabama; nephews Jack Royer and Will Royer; and extended family.

Beverly would like to express special gratitude to dear friends from high school, who have been a tremendous support system during this difficult time, and the staff of Elara Caring Hospice for their wonderful care and support. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 17, 2021, at Maple Grove Cemetery in Clay City, Indiana, with Pastor David Tyra officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the Lewy Body Dementia Association at lbda.org or the Esophageal Cancer Action Network at ecan.org.
