Hal T. Marshall

Oct. 29, 1948-Sept. 13, 2021

Hal T. Marshall, 72, of Ladoga was welcomed into Eternal Life in Heaven on Monday, Sept. 13, 2021.

Hal was born Oct. 29, 1948, at Kokomo, to Ray and Maxine Marshall, growing up in Walton, Indiana, where he was a member of Shiloh Lutheran Church. Hal graduated from Lewis-Cass High School in 1966 and went on to study Industrial Management at Purdue University, graduating in 1971.

While at Purdue, Hal was a member of Theta Chi fraternity and spent time out of the classroom using his musical talents for piano and drums in different bands and accompanying the Tarkington Glee Club. Later, Hal also played piano for services at Parkersburg Christian Church.

While at Purdue, he met the love of his life, Cheryl (Rohn). They married on Jan. 23, 1971, celebrating 50 wonderful years of marriage earlier this year.

Hal started his career with American Brands and then spent 35-plus years working for RR Donnelley as a customer service representative and a supervisor.

In retirement, Hal spent time traveling and continuing his passions of spending time with family, cooking, canning, gardening and cheering on Purdue sports. Hal never missed a Purdue home football game for 49 years. You could always find him tailgating and cheering on the Boilermaker football and basketball teams.

Hal was a strong, kind and supportive husband and father. He loved his family and one of his greatest accomplishments was becoming a father to his children, Ashley and Alex. His favorite role, however, was becoming a grandfather. He fiercely loved Raylan and was lovingly known as “Pop” or “Poppa Hal.”

He is preceded in death by his parents; brother Phillip Marshall; sister-in-law Phyllis Marshall; and multiple aunts and uncles.

He is survived by wife Cheryl; daughter Ashley Marshall (and grand-dog, Mackey) of Whitestown; son Alex Marshall (daughter-in-law Brenay and grandson Raylan) of Zionsville; cousin Judy Fitzer of Flora; and other cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Visitation will be at Sanders Priebe Funeral Care, 315 S. Washington St., Crawfordsville, on Saturday, Oct. 9 from noon until the time of celebration of life service at 2 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial donations can be made to the John Purdue Club, of which Hal was a member.
