Dean Howell

March 21, 1955 - September 22, 2021

 

Lloyd “Dean” Howell age 66, passed away peacefully at home on September 22, 2021 following an
extended illness. Dean was born in Portsmouth, Ohio on March 21, 1955. He was the son of Lloyd and
Delores Alline (Vansickle) Howell.

Dean moved to Clay City when he was 16 years old with his family and carried on the family business of
construction and masonry. Dean owned and operated a successful business with his family for over 50
years. Dean and his son-in-law, Jed Booe have operated H&B Residential for the past several years. In his
spare time he enjoyed fishing, campfires, and spending time with his grandsons, family, and friends.
Dean married Kim Gerber Howell on June 5, 1982.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister Brenda (Howell) Boggs.
Survivors include his wife, one daughter, Kayla (Howell) Booe and son-in-law Jed. Two grandsons, Jack
Austin Edwards and Bryar Booe of Clay City. Two brothers, Gary (Deborah) Howell of South Shore,
Kentucky and Roger (Jan) Howell of Center Point, Indiana, one sister, Deborah (Walter) Ream of Clay
City, mother-in-law and debate partner, Marilyn Gerber, as well as many nieces and nephews, several
extended family members, and special friend, Tim Brown.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, September 25th at 1 P.M. at Schoppenhorst Funeral Home, 301
East 8th Street, Clay City, Indiana, officiated by Dean's brother, Gary Howell. Visitation will be held from 11 A.M. until the time of service.
