William O. Sanders, "Wild Bill"

Bill

August 29, 1945 - September 25, 2021

William O. Sanders, “Wild Bill”, 76, of Clay County passed away September 25, 2021, at 5:34pm at Terre Haute Regional Hospital. He was born August 29, 1945, in Cunot, IN. the son of Otis Sanders and Vivian (Harrison) Sanders.

He attended school in Cloverdale and joined the Army National Guard as a young man.

In Bill’s work career, he first worked as a truck driver for Schneider Trucking. He later became an owner/operator, over the road driver. He spent over 15 years traveling the country in his rig. In that era, CB communication was key, and his handle was “Little Stinker”. When the time came to stop over the road trucking his interest went to owning dump trucks and other heavy equipment. He was a man who knew the art of Buying and Selling. He took interest in finding just the right buy and knew somebody that needed that item. In all his working years, he never knew a stranger, so he became friends with many folks across the United States.

When Bill wasn’t working, he enjoyed the company of his family, horses, friends, especially those at tractor pulls, and his beloved dogs. He participated in tractor events all over the Wabash Valley and beyond. One of his favorite places was the Bowling Green Tractor Pull. Bill won A LOT and was proud of his winnings. He was featured in Tractor Magazine and pulled in various locations across the U.S.

He leaves behind his children, Rob Sanders and wife Lori, Sarah Workman and husband Micah, and Beau Judd and wife Alex all of Brazil; he was Pappy to Jordaine Sanders, Zach Truxal, Britany (Douglas) Phillipo, Ian Harris (Molly), Grace Sutherland and Brody Workman; great Pappy to Jackson Phillipo and David Lessman; brother, John Sanders of Indianapolis, and one sister Jane Smith of Poland; nieces, nephews and a host of friends; his constant companion, Wimpy who came into his life as a puppy in 2015.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Lee Sanders, and Roy Sanders.
Services for Bill will be held on Tuesday at 1:00pm at French Funeral Home with Pastor Rick Wetnight officiating. Burial will follow at Wesley Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 11-1.

The family requests that no flowers be sent. Donations in his memory may be made to the Bowling Green Volunteer Fire Department or to the Bowling Green Tractor Pull Association. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
