Stephen H. Wolfe

July 2, 1963-Sept. 22, 2021

Stephen “Steve” Harry Wolfe, 58, of Crawfordsville passed away Wednesday, Sept. 22, 2021.

He was born July 2, 1963, at Indianapolis. Steve’s first job was at the omelet shop in Indianapolis in the early 80’s. He also worked at Safeway as a meat cutter and a cashier. He later worked at a steel mill in Indianapolis.

He was married to Renice (Gray) Stepro and Jane (Wolfe). Although Steve did not have any biological children of his own, he gained four children during the marriages. He was considered a bonus dad to Jacqueline Fields, Cody O’haver, Tim Montany and Megan Weaver.

Steve considered himself as a self-claimed grandfather to four, an uncle to several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Steve moved to Russellville, where he worked at Walmart Supercenter #1655 for 10 years, Kroger on Darlington Avenue for a few years, and at High Tech for seven years. He then moved to Lebanon, and worked at Cold Storage until an accident on the job required him to retire early.

His final move, where he bought a home and planted roots, was in Crawfordsville. This is where he spent hours on the porch waving at cars that drove bye. They beeped, and happily returned his wave. There will be a forever empty spot on Wabash Avenue.

He was preceded in death by father John H. Wolfe; mother Ruth Maydelle Wolfe; and two children to beautiful for earth.

Steve was no stranger to anybody and had a lot of friends that he called family. He was a beautiful soul who was loved by many and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his four siblings, Samuel Wolfe (Rocio), Sharon Wolfe, Sandra Taylor (Chet) and Suzanne Rueff (Patrick); nieces, Raven Taylor and Sara Taylor; nephews, Dustyn and Deryck Rothenberger; and of course his beloved cat, Buddy.

Funeral services for Steve will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 3 at Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service and Crematory, Greenwood Chapel, 481 W. Main St., Greenwood. The family will receive guests at the funeral home from
