Marilyn L. Harris of rural Crawfordsville passed away Wednesday morning Oct. 20, 2021, at home. She was 83.

Mrs. Harris was a member of Eastern Star #97, Smyrna Shrine Guild of Indianapolis, Elks #483 and American Legion Post 72 Auxiliary.  She liked country music, football (especially the Steelers), the Pacers, Cubs, flower gardening and planting new trees. She attended family reunions at least twice a year since 1969. She drove the Shriners in the Christmas parade the past 20 years. She would travel and spend winters in South Padre Island, Texas, during which she would go shopping in Mexico and buy cowgirl boots.

Born Jan. 7, 1938, in Putnam County, she was the daughter of Charles C. Calvert and Ethel K. Anderson Calvert. She graduated from Waveland High School. She married George Allan Harris on March 26, 1965. He survives.

Surviving family includes: husband George Allan “Big Al” Harris; sons, Jeffrey (Mary) Miller of Crawfordsville and Roger (Marka) Miller of Crawfordsville; daughter Greta Harris of Crawfordsville; step-daughter Cindy Garman of Huntertown; five grandchildren, Joshua (Eve) Miller of Darlington, Jason (Star) Miller of Hillsboro, Matthew Miller of Crawfordsville, Shawn Garman of Huntertown and Brandon Garman of Huntertown; and sister Joyce (Harvey) Gilland.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother Dale Calvert; and sister Carolyn (Raymond) Busey.

Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 25 at Burkhart Funeral Home, 201 W. Wabash Ave., Crawfordsville. Services will begin at 2 p.m., led by Pastor Kevin Howey. Burial will follow at Indian Creek Hill Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Shriner’s Hospital for Children, mail checks to Montgomery County Shrine, P.O. Box 412, Crawfordsville, IN 47933.
