On Wednesday, Sept. 29, 2021, Bonnie Jean Rager Bohrer of Murrieta, California, passed away at the age of 68 after a brief struggle with cancer.

Bonnie was born Jan. 19, 1953, at Crawfordsville, to George and Margaret (Cedars) Rager. She was the second of four children.

Bonnie was married to the love of her life, Bradley C. Bohrer, for 47 years, and they had three sons, Benjamin and Brandon, both of Murrieta, and Bryan of Cologne Koln, Germany. She was mother-in-law to the late Katherine Henderson-Bohrer, and loving grandmother to Eliana Jean of Murrieta.

Her siblings were Nancy Rager Thompson, Clyde (Pamela) Rager and Vern (Pamela) Rager, all of Crawfordville. She also had three step-sisters, Sandra (Robert) Fanning of Howe, Indiana, Lynn Ellen Rantz of Ogden, Utah, and Susan Watkins of Crawfordsville.

Additional survivers include her six nieces, Sheila Rager (James) Dolan of Fishers, Laura Rager (James) Hayes of Darlington, Andra Rager of Crawfordsville, Megan Rager Huckstep of Crawfordsville, Amy Rager (Aaron) Mattingly of Crawfordsville, Jennifer Butler (Brendan) McCardle of Westfield and two nephews, Joshua (Erin) Rager of Brownsburg and Brian (Holi) Butler of Crawfordsville. She also leaves behind seven great-nieces and four great-nephews.

Bonnie graduated from Crawfordsville High School in 1971. Then entered Manchester College in North Manchester, Indiana. She graduated in 1975 with a bachelor of science degree in elementary education and a mathematics minor. She later earned a master of science degree in education from Indiana University. She had a 34-year career in public education, finishing her career at Berea City Schools of Berea, Ohio. She also served the Church of the Brethren as a teacher for two years in Kulp Bible College, Kwarhi, Nigeria.

Bonnie enjoyed being in the midst of a busy family as well as loving, supporting, and encouraging everyone she knew. She loved singing, directing the church choirs, being a teacher, gardening, traveling and being creative in all she did. She was a deeply committed person to all she loved and compassionate and caring to all.

A celebration of life service is planned on Saturday, April 9, 2022, midst the tulips, daffodils, crocus and snowdrops she planted around the Crest Manor Church of the Brethren, 1342 Berkshire Drive, South Bend, IN 46614.
