Charley Wharton

April 6, 1944 - October 28, 2021

Charley B. Wharton, 77, of Brazil, Indiana passed away, unexpectedly, at his residence on October 28, 2021.

Charley was born in Terre Haute, Indiana on April 6, 1944, the son of Otis and Flossie (Taylor) Wharton. He graduated from Gerstemeyer High School. He then joined the United States Marine Corps and served in Vietnam.

Charley worked for Amax Coal until they closed in 1996. When he wasn’t working he enjoyed hunting, shooting, woodworking, and socializing with friends at Family Table.

Charley was preceded in death by his parents Otis and Flossie Wharton and his wife Barbara Jean “B.J.” Wharton.

Charley leaves behind his children: Michael Wharton, David Wharton and wife Heidi, and Christina Jett; several grandchildren including Blake Wharton, Braeden Wharton, Indya Trahan, Ivan Trahan, Ireland Adkins, and Iyla Adkins; siblings John Wharton, Laura Miller, and Rose Wharton as well as various extended family members and friends.

Memorial services will be at French Funeral Home, 421 E. National Ave. Brazil, Indiana 47834 on Wednesday, November 3, 2021 from 4-7pm with military honors provided by the American Legion, VFW, and United States Marines at 7:00pm.
