Kris Smith

Kris Ann (Berry) Smith, 64, of Coal City, passed away peacefully with family on Sunday, October 31st, 2021, at Regional Hospital in Terre Haute, Indiana. Kris was born on March 21, 1957, to Donald H and Janet R (Poore) Berry. Kris was a 1975 graduate of Owen Valley High School. She married the love of her life, David E. Smith on March 11, 1977.
Kris was a homemaker, involved in the community and church, and loved helping run the family farm. Kris loved to make crafts, work in her flower beds, cook, bake, and decorate their home for the seasons. Kris was a 4-H leader during the late 80’s and early 90’s, active in the Coal City Fire Department’s Ladies’ Auxiliary and Coal City Festival Committee for many years. She was still active in the Coal City Historical Society and an active member of the Jefferson Baptist Church in Coal City where she loved to sing.
Kris is survived by her husband, David E. Smith; children, Erin (Dan) Miller, Lyndsay (Jeremy) Reichle; grandchildren, Gavin Miller, Caleigh Miller, Clayton Reichle; brother, Tim Berry; mother-in-law, Edna Ruth Smith; aunts, uncles, and cousins. Kris was preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Janet Berry; and father-in-law Carroll E. Smith. Graveside services will be held at Fiscus Cemetery in Coal City on Saturday, November 6th, 2021, at 1:00 pm. Jeff Flater will officiate. Family and friends are welcome at the graveside and to visit afterward at Jefferson Baptist Church in Coal City, on Saturday, November 6th, 2021, between 2:00 to 4:00 pm.
