Mary Ann Kidwell, 83, of Brazil, Indiana, passed away at Regional Hospital on November 2, 2021.

She was born on September 18th, 1938, in Brazil, Indiana, the only child of William A. and Mary K Leavitt.

Mary Ann graduated from Brazil High School in 1956 and Indiana University in 1960. Highlights of her school years were cheerleading at Brazil High and a member of the Kappa Delta Sorority and homecoming princess while at I.U. She later finished her Masters in Education at Indiana State University. Early in her career she taught at Pinkley Street Elementary and Jackson Township Elementary but the majority of her career was spent at Staunton Elementary where she retired in education in 1996.

Mary Ann married the love of her life on August 21st, 1960, and that union brought forth two children. She was a devoted wife and mother. Taking pride in her homemaking skills but at the end of a long day she loved to curl up and unwind by reading a good book. She was an avid reader.

Mary Ann found a passion for golf as the children got a little older and enjoyed playing with her husband and her numerous friends. She loved vacationing, either taking golf trips, going to the beach with family or just sightseeing. She especially enjoyed getting to see London, Scotland and Wales.


Mary Ann was known by all for her great sense of humor and the way she could make a story memorable. She never knew a stranger. She was not only beautiful on the outside but on the inside as well. She was loved by many and will be greatly missed.

Mary Ann was preceded in Death by her parents and grandson Matthew Steven Myers.
Survivors include her husband William Riley “Bill” Kidwell, her daughter Jill Lynne (Kidwell) Myers and husband Steve of Terre haute, her son William Steven “Steve” Kidwell and wife Sherry of Brazil; grandchildren Ashley Nicole Kidwell, Katelyn Marie Kidwell, and Erika Lynne(Myers) Heath and husband Chad.; a great grandson Grayson Matthew Heath.
