Ruth Clair Simonton

Ruth Clair Simonton, 77, of Veedersburg passed away Tuesday Nov. 9, 2021, at her residence.

Ruth was born Sept. 23, 1944, in Benton Harbor, Michigan, the daughter of Arnold B. and Ophie Mae (Newnum) Mack. She married Charles R. Simonton on May 14, 1968, at Williamsport. He preceded her in death Sept. 4, 2018.

She is also preceded in death by brothers, Charles and Claude Mack, and sister Viola Young.

Surviving family include: son Steven C. (Julie Mathews) Simonton, Veedersburg; daughter Sylvia I. (Howard) Logsdon, Veedersburg; sister Mary Ellen Cutting, Effingham, Illinois; brother George “Butch” (Linda Sue) Mack, Marshall; two grandchildren, Alexis Logsdon and Tommy Logsdon; and several nieces and nephews. 

Ruth was an Elvis fan. She enjoyed playing bingo and card games; reading novels; and going to flea markets, especially during the covered bridge festival. And more than anything she loved and enjoyed her grandkids.

Earlier in life, Ruth had been employed at the 3M sewing factory in Veedersburg; and she had been employed for many years at Steel Grip in Danville and Covington.

Graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 13 at Rush Creek Cemetery near Tangier, with Pastor Gary Johnson officiating.
