Karen Parkey

November 21, 1949 - November 11, 2021

Karen Parkey, 71, of Brazil, Indiana, went home to be with her Heavenly Father on November 11, 2021.

Karen was born in Brazil, Indiana, on November 21, 1949, the daughter of Orval and Patty (Means) Swearingen. She graduated from Brazil High School with the class of 1967 and attended Johnson Bible College. Karen married Edward Douglas “Doug” Parkey on August 22, 1969. Karen retired from Clay Community school corporation where she worked as a bus driver for several years. Karen played piano for various churches where she & her husband served. She and Doug had recently been serving at Fairview Christian Church. She enjoyed decorating her home and raising her family. Her favorite thing was being Nana to her grandchildren.

Karen was preceded in death by her parents Orval and Patty Swearingen and a brother Rick Swearingen.

Karen is survived by her husband of 52 years Doug Parkey; three children: John Parkey and wife Valerie of Mt. Washington, Kentucky, Mark Parkey and wife Amber of Brazil, Ramey Rowe and husband Doug of Cicero, Indiana; grandchildren: Riley Steele (Brandon), Beau Parkey, Jared Parkey, Camden Parkey, Courtney Arnott (Tanner), Max Furnish, Jackson Furnish, Colin Furnish, and Ava Furnish; great-granddaughters: Abby Arnott and Penelope Arnott; a sister Marsha Hinsch (John); a sister-in-law Cathy Swearingen; and a host of extended family members and friends.

At Karen’s request, cremation services have been entrusted to French Funeral Home and a service for close and extended family will be held at Clearview Cemetery on Saturday, November 20, 2021 at 11:00am with her son John Parkey officiating. The family appreciates all of the concern, condolences, and is grateful for this time to grieve as a family.
