Janet Kay (Boor) Pearce

May 18, 1938 - November 15, 2021

On the 15th of November 2021, God began playing the Notre Dame Fight Song as Janet Kay (Boor) Pearce joined her husband Eddie to dance in victory together again in Heaven.

Janet entered this world on May 18,1938 to her parents Albert and Mildred (Stark) Boor. She was born and raised in Brazil, Indiana and was the fourth of six kids, coming in the middle of Jimmy, Phyllis, David, Phil, and Debbie.

Growing up, Janet was known as one superb athlete, famed for having kicked a football and thrown a baseball over the Pinckley Street School. No small feat for any Brazil athlete, but especially for a girl! On the field, she often put all the school boys to shame with her athleticism and zest for sports.

Janet married the love of her life, Edward “Eddie” William Pearce, on April 7, 1961 at Annunciation Catholic Church. After the ceremony, the newlyweds spent the next 28 days enjoying one of their greatest passions in life, baseball. They watched games from Wrigley Field to Yankee Stadium and at every park in between. Through their 57 year marriage the couple attended over 92 Notre Dame Football games together and actually had grass from the field planted in their back yard.
Soon after they were married, Janet and Eddie grew their family to four welcoming, Lorie and Sherri just 13 months apart. Family was Eddie and Janet’s pride and joy and they raised a strong family in the Catholic Church with four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

As a young woman, Janet worked with her brother at Fred’s Market along with working at IBM. Later she became the head cook at Annunciation Catholic School. She worked at Annunciation for over 31 years and although her title read “head cook” speaking to any of the faculty or students that could more accurately be described as mentor, confidant, disciplinarian, therapist, advocate, fixer, and friend.

Although Janet was an avid sports enthusiast, she also had a great love for shopping. She could often be found pushing a bascart through the aisles of Kohl’s and Meijer. She loved a good “deal” and prided herself on being a financial savant. More importantly she loved the time spent with family while walking through those stores. Whether it was back to school shopping with her daughters and grandkids, a quick outlet mall between ball games, or the infamous shopping spree known as Black Friday.

Janet’s best days were spent traveling the country watching her grandkids sporting events, shopping, entertaining around their family pool, playing euchre, and cooking Sunday dinner every week at the family home. Being surrounded by her family truly made Janet the happiest.

Janet was preceded in death by her parents Albert and Mildred Boor, her husband Eddie Pearce, daughter, Sherri Stevenson, siblings: David Boor, Debbie Call, and Jim Boor; brother-in-law Walt Milner; whom we know were all waiting with open arms.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Lorie and Brian Shoemaker, son-in-law John Stevenson, grandchildren Natalie and Nick Lizanich, Brady and Chelsea Shoemaker, Madason Stevenson-Russell, Drake and Betsy Stevenson, and great-grandchildren Trey, William, Mollie, and Kayden Lizanich, Drew, Bo, and Jett Shoemaker, and Jackson Stevenson, her brother and sister-in-law Butch and Bonnie Boor, sister Phyllis Milner, sister-in-law Yvonne Boor, and brother-in-law Michael Call, along with a very loving extended family of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Janet will be most fondly remembered for her great love for God, Family, and Notre Dame Football, GO IRISH!
