David Brown passed away peacefully on Nov. 15, 2021, in Naples, Florida.

David was born Dec. 10, 1939, at New Richmond, and graduated from Crawfordsville High School, Class of 1958. After earning an electrical engineering degree from Purdue University, David joined the United States Army Signal Corp. While in the Army, he was stationed at the White House, serving President Kennedy as a communications specialist. He was honored to be part of the advance team sent to Berlin in 1963 to prepare the communications for President Kennedy’s visit.

 

After serving his country, David attended Indiana University School of Medicine. He and his family moved from Indiana to Naples to open his family medical practice, where he was a devoted caregiver to his patients. A wonderful husband, father, and grandpa, he led by example, promoting kindness, thoughtfulness, generosity and sincerity through his actions.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Joanne; his children, Dru Perkins, Layne Perkins (Brandi), David Brown (Kristine), Jeremy Brown (Eric) and Jennifer Brown (Angelo); his grandchildren, Cole, Caroline, Jacqueline, Tessa, Sienna, Easton, Rossi, Ivy and Ava; and his sister, Patricia Harris (David).

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Inus Brown; his brother, Donald Brown (Martha); and his grandson, Kyle.
