Saul Rosenthal

Saul Rosenthal, 93, passed away on Wednesday, November 17, 2021 in at Gibson Family Center for Hospice. He was retired from the English Department of Indiana State University.
He was born April 14, 1928, to Henry Rosenthal and Anne Rodgin Rosenthal in Washington, D.C. He graduated from Roosevelt High School, Catholic University of America (B.A.), George Washington University (M.A.), and the University of Iowa (M.F.A.), with majors in English, Drama, and Creative Writing.
He was predeceased by a single sibling, Alan H. Rosenthal. Survivors include nephew Len Rosenthal and his wife Alaina, nephew Eric S. Rosenthal, and niece Karen Rosenthal and her children, Nathan and Joshua.
He first taught at Howard County High School, Maryland, American University, Washington, D.C., Michigan Technological University, Northern Illinois University, and, until his retirement, Indiana State University. In Terre Haute, he was a member of the United Hebrew Congregation and the Unitarian Universalist Congregation. He authored a number of articles, plays, and several books. Two of his dramas received awards in national competitions.
As he wished, no funeral services will be held and Roselawn Funeral Home will arrange for his cremation. In remembrance, memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice of Wabash Valley, Indiana Civil Liberties Union, and Southern Poverty Law Center.
