Thomas Soules

JULY 31, 1965 – NOVEMBER 25, 2021

Thomas “Tom” Joseph Soules, 56, passed away at home on Thursday, November 25, 2021. Tom was born in Terre Haute on July 31, 1965, to Warren Soules and Suzanne (Osmon) Soules. Survivors include his mother Suzanne, brother Michael (Jane) Soules, sister Jodi (Matthew) Williams, nephews Jacob Soules, Mikey Soules, Reid Myers, and niece Morgan Myers. He also leaves behind his beloved dog, Sadie. Tom is predeceased by his father Warren and favorite aunt, Peggy Osmon.

Tom attended Terre Haute North High School. A tragic accident as a teen altered the course of his life, but Tom persevered through his adversity and was an inspiration to all who knew him. Blessed with the courageous heart of a lion and the gentle spirit of a lamb, Tom was a helper by nature and was a friend to all who knew him. He was a favorite “Uncle Tom” to his cherished nephews and niece and loved to pester them relentlessly. He had a soft spot for animals, and spent a small fortune over the years feeding “his” squirrels. Tom enjoyed the outdoors and had the uncanny ability to spot a morel mushroom in an overgrown forest from a mile away in the middle of a spring thunderstorm. He enjoyed fishing, mowing the lawn, planting flowers, watching wrestling, building models, and playing with Sadie. He loved to “tinker” with things, and would tinker until they were fixed or completely broken beyond repair. He had a knack for achieving perfectly crisp bacon. Ever the comedian, he never squandered an opportunity to spray someone with a cold garden hose or jump out from behind a door to scare the bejesus out of you. His best friend was his mother, and they navigated all life’s obstacles together. Life with Tom meant you never carried your own groceries, and you always left the house with extra food because you just might get hungry later. Tom will be missed more than words can adequately express. We take comfort in the fact that he is reunited with his father and aunt.

Graveside services will be held at Roselawn Memorial Park on Tuesday, November 30th at 2pm. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation in Tom’s name to the Brain Injury Association of America or the Terre Haute Humane Society.
