Imogene Crowe, 100, of Brazil, Indiana, passed away on December 11, 2021 while staying at Cobblestone Crossing, in Terre Haute.

Imogene was born on September 28, 1921, in rural Clay County, Indiana the daughter of Ernest and Mae (Boyce) Dietz. She graduated from Brazil High School with the class of 1939 and then Indiana Central College (now known as the University of Indianapolis) in 1943 with a degree in education. She taught in Indianapolis Public Schools, Jackson Township Elementary School and Cloverdale Elementary School. She married Edgar Crowe on July 24, 1946; he preceded her in death on May 27, 2009.

She was a member of the Prairie City United Methodist Church where she served as a Sunday School Teacher for many years. She also enjoyed photography and quilting. She was a 4-H Leader for 35 years. In the winter months she and Edgar would travel to Braden Castle, Bradenton, Florida. While there she worked to have the Braden Castle placed on the historic registry which she achieved in 1983.

Imogene was preceded in death by her parents Ernest and Mae Dietz, her husband Edgar Crowe, and her son Ernest W. Crowe.

Imogene leaves behind her son Forrest L. Crowe and wife Carol of Jasonville; grandsons: Jeremiah Crowe and wife Belinda and Isaac Crowe and wife Melissa; a great-granddaughter Sierra Crowe and fiancé Anthony Froehlich.

Visitation will be at French Funeral Home, 421 E. National Ave. Brazil, Indiana 47834, on Wednesday, December 15, 2021, from 11 PM until 1:00 PM. Services will be at the funeral home on Wednesday, at 1:00 PM with Pastor Ron Riggs officiating. Burial will follow at Union Cemetery.
