Debra Jean Hassler, 66, of Greencastle, passed away on Monday, December 20, 2021. Born June 20, 1955 in Greencastle, she was the daughter of Noble Sutherlin and Wanda (Ensor) Sutherlin Bitzer. Debbie was a graduate of South Putnam High School “Class of 1973” and had attended Ivy Tech Community College. Debbie was the Putnam County Superior Court office administrator. She had started working at the Putnam County Courthouse in the Clerk’s office in 1987. She loved working at the courthouse and all the people she worked with. She was preceded in death by her Father; a sister, Pamela Sutherlin; step-father, Wendell Bitzer, grandchildren, Ashley and Cody Stevenson and nephew, Ryan McHie. Debbie’s pride and joy was her family, but especially her grandkids. She was involved and attended as many of their events as possible. She was the best mamaw, nana, gigi and Debbo. Debbie is survived by her daughter, Wendy (Gale) Stevenson; son, Bryan (Ashley) Hassler; bonus sons, Casey (Mandy) Harris, Jonathan (Haley) Hassler and Rusty Giles; her mother, Wanda Bitzer; sisters, Marcia (Rich) McHie, Diane (Pat) Drawbaugh, and Janet (Art) Dwigans; grandchildren, Dustin (Kaylee) Stevenson, Austin Hassler, Alison Hassler, Issac McClain, and Ezekiel McClain; bonus grandchildren, Parker Harris, Lukas Harris, Macy Harris, Wesley Hassler, Ethan Hassler, Blake Giles, Tyler Giles, and Samantha Giles; great granddaughter, Farrah Stevenson and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, December 30, 2021 at the Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home. Interment will follow at the Forest Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral on Thursday from 11:00 AM until time of service.
