Carmeileta Reece

Carmeileta Reece, 87 of Cory, passed away December 26, 2021, at Cobblestone Crossings with her family by her side. She was born August 11, 1934, in Riley, IN. the daughter of Forest Ephram and Anna Goodwin Tague. She graduated from Riley High School, Class of 1952. She has been a lifelong member of the Oak Hill Community Church.
On December 11, 1954, Carmeileta was united in marriage to Don Reece and together they raised their family and farmed on the Clay/Vigo County Line. She was one that loved her family, her faith, her farm animals and tending to her home. She enjoyed gardening and she was well known for her angel food cakes, noodles, fried chicken and baby towels. She loved working at the Cory Apple Festival, volunteering at the church and following 4-H events of her children and grandchildren. One of her favorite names to be called was Grandma Carmie and the grandkids remember her many “grandmaisms” and card games.
She is survived by her husband Don Reece; daughter Shelly Ream and husband Brian of Clay City; grandchildren, Keith Butt (Billie Jo), Kimberly Butt, Kyle Butt (Alyssa), Jason Reece, Jeremy Reece (Elaine), Jonathon Reece (Bryanna), Lauren Ream, Kristen Ream, Logan Ream; great-grandchildren, Nathan Butt, Silas Butt, Timothy Butt, Anna Butt, Peter Butt, Adelia Butt, Corbin Reece, Caleb Reece, Connor Reece, and Rylie Reece; her son-in-law, Duane Butt and daughter-in-law, Connie Reece; many nieces, nephews and extended family. Also, her best friend and neighbor, Betty Stoelting.
Those that have preceded her death include, her parents, her daughter Belinda Sue Reece Butt and her son, Stu Reece; siblings, Gail Maranovich, Faye Larison, Herman Tague, Harold Tague, Charles Tague, and Jerry Tague.
Private family services will be held with Pastor Tim Fagg officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Oak Hill Community Church, 10055 St. Rd. 46, Terre Haute, IN. 47802 or to the Light House Mission, 1201 S. 13th Terre Haute, IN. 47802.
