Larry L. Schauwecker, 77, of Clay City, Indiana, passed away unexpectedly, on December 28, 2021.
Larry was born on November 25, 1944, in Clay County, Indiana, the son of Guy LeRoy Schauwecker and Dorothy (Brown) Schauwecker. He graduated from Clay City High School. Larry worked with the United Mine Workers Association for 40 years and then Putnamville Prison for 10 years.
Larry was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Clay City and now Bowling Green.
He enjoyed taking rides on the golf cart and tinkering around the house. In his earlier years Larry enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, spending time outdoors and riding motorcycles.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents Guy LeRoy and Dorothy Schauwecker and his wife of 53 years Carolyn Sue Schauwecker.
Larry leaves behind his daughter Tammy Forsythe; son Terry Schauwecker and wife Julie; grandchildren: Damien Schauwecker, Dustin Schauwecker, Madison Schauwecker, Shanelle Forsythe, and Jerry Forsythe; great-grandchildren: Braedon Schauwecker, Aubrey Wilson, and Jason Dalton and his faithful 4-legged companion Duke.
Visitation will be at Schoppenhorst Funeral Home, 301 East Eighth St. Clay City, Indiana 47841 on Wednesday, January 5, 2022, from 4-8 PM. Services will be at the funeral home, on Thursday, at 11:00 AM with Pastor Laura Wells officiating. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery.
