Virginia Lee Simpson, 95, of Monte Vista, Colorado and formerly of Crawfordsville, passed away Friday, Dec. 3, 2021, at her residence in Colorado.

She was born Feb. 8, 1926, at Russellville, to the late Audie Jackson and Lillie (Wells) Jackson. Virginia graduated from Russellville High School alongside her brother Max (Jack) in the Class of 1945.

 

On Aug. 10, 1946, she married Charles William Simpson, who preceded her in death Nov. 6, 2018. Virginia was a homemaker and farmer’s wife in the Waveland and Browns Valley area all her adult life. She loved family and was thrilled to have grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A member of Browns Valley Christian Church, Virginia served in the Ladies’ Aide, taught children’s Bible School and Sunday School and was a church song leader. She also was a member of the Russellville American Legion Ladies’ Auxiliary.

Virginia is survived by daughter Catherine (Ed) Redden of Monte Vista, Colorado; three grandchildren, Christin (Rodney) Graves, Chelsea (Alex) Thompson and Cody (Jenna) Redden; six great-grandchildren, Jaelyn, Lillie, Charlie, Ruby, Everlee and Shepard; two step-great-grandchildren, Rodney Jr. and Raven; many nieces and nephews; and brother-in-law Don (Elizabeth) Simpson.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother Max Jackson; and husband Charles.

Visitation will be at Browns Valley Christian Church, 9011 S. State Road 47, Crawfordsville, on Friday, Jan. 7 from 11 a.m. until the time of the memorial service at noon, with Pastor Dave Finch officiating. Burial of cremains will follow at Indian Creek Hill Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to the Browns Valley Christian Church Fellowship Hall, 9011 S. State Road 47, Crawfordsville, IN 47933.
