Charlene Joy Wilson

July 6, 1947 - January 5, 2022

Charlene Joy Wilson, 74 of Brazil, passed away January 5, 2022, at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis following a brief illness. She was born July 6, 1947, in Massillon, OH, the daughter of Harold Haverty and Charlotte Rothacher Haverty. Her father was a minister, and his calling led them to move to Brazil. Joy graduated from Brazil High School, Class of 1966.
Joy met Terry Wilson and it was love at first sight. They were married June 9, 1968, and have celebrated 53 years of marriage.

Joy last worked at Hapico, INC. in Greencastle in the factory for 13 years, before retirement. She was a member of the Carbon Baptist Church. She has always enjoyed sewing, crochet work, playing cards and time with family. Joy was a devoted wife, mom and loved being Grandma Joy.

Survivors include her husband, Terry Wilson; sons, Terry Wilson, II and wife Amber, Jared Wilson, and wife Marcy; grandchildren, Morgan Wilson, Tanner Wilson (Madison), Marissa Wilson, Landen Wilson (Machelle) and Luke Wilson; great-grandchildren Brantley, Avery, and Ellie; sisters Bonnie Johnson, Marilyn Branum (Larry), Cindy Wright (Jim); one brother Rich Haverty (Marsha); many nieces, nephews, and extended family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Denise Nuckols and a great-granddaughter, Lynlee Laczko.
Services will be held Tuesday, January 11, 2022, at 2:00pm at the Lawson-Miller Chapel with Pastor Dick McShanog officiating. Burial will follow at Calcutta Cemetery.
