Patsy JoAnne (Michael) Rader, 81, of Brazil, Indiana, passed away on January 9, 2022, while staying at Union Hospital, following a brief illness.

Patsy was born, the oldest of 9 children, on August 4, 1940, in Brazil, Indiana the daughter of Elmer “Mike” Michael and Mabel (Sterrett) Michael. She graduated from Brazil High School with the class of 1959 and married her high school sweetheart Frank Rader on New Years Eve in 1959.

She owned and operated Patsy’s Kountry Kurl’s as a beautician for many years. Afterwards she began working with Clay Community Schools as a teacher’s aide and then First Christian Church Daycare before retiring.

She was a former member of the Order of the Eastern Star Knightsville lodge, a longtime member of Berea Christian Church. She enjoyed camping, reading, spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was the best yeast roll maker around.

She was preceded in death by her parents Elmer and Mabel Michael; her husband Frank Rader; two brothers: Larry Michael and Jack Michael; in-laws Ora and Ruth Rader.

Survivors include her children: Michael Rader and wife Matricia, Steven Rader and wife Tammy, and Rebecca Rader all of Brazil; grandchildren: Mikayla Rader, Brandon Rader, Christopher Rader, Eric Rader, Amber Whitecotten, Hannah Whittington, Kalissa (James) Yocom, Matthew (Orlando) Rader, and Jade (Kevin) Lishka; great-grandchildren: Kyleen Whitecotten, Kaleb Whitecotten, Emma Jenkins, Raelynn Rader, Anthony Rader, Hunter Rader, Leo Yocom, Sophia Lishka, Brycen Lishka, and baby girl Rader due in February; siblings: Carolyn Branson (Edgar), Peggy Michael, Sandy Black (Bill), Alice Wools (Charles), Betty Austin (Randy), and Kenny Michael (Tina); several nieces, nephews, and extended family members, as well as many foster children throughout the years.

Visitation will be at Lawson-Miller Chapel 1702 E. National Ave. Brazil, Indiana 47834 on Sunday, January 16, 2022, from Noon until 2:00 PM. Services will follow at the funeral home, at 2:00 PM with burial to follow at Calcutta Cemetery.
