Rita Mae Ash

FEBRUARY 9, 1947 – JANUARY 13, 2022

Rita Mae Ash, 74, of Greencastle, passed away on Thursday Evening, January 13, 2022, at Asbury Towers.

Rita was born in Greencastle on February 9, 1947, the daughter of Willard and Hazel Marie Scott (Buis) Fitzsimmons.

Mrs. Ash worked in many restaurants over the years as a cook. She was a member of First Assembly of God Church in Greencastle. Rita loved to help people, and was a professional Clown for many years, and an actively licensed Minister.

Survivors include her three children, Tina Rogers, (Curt), Shelia Friend, (Scott), and Clyde Ash; two brothers, Russell Fitzsimmons and Teddy Scott, (Tracy); a sister, Patricia Jones, (Gary); four grandchildren, Renee Duncan, Dustin Rogers, (Maggie), Shelby Detro, (Josiah), and April Detro; four great-grandchildren, Jayla Weekly, Emily Weekly, Lincoln Rogers, and Elaina Rogers; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Clyde Edward Ash Sr.; and a brother, Lesster Fitzsimmons.

Services will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, January 22, 2022. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until time of service on Saturday.
