Faye Aileen (Strow) York DeAth, 93, of Mellott passed away at 6:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 12, 2022, in Franciscan Health Crawfordsville.

Faye was born Feb. 14, 1928, at Paris, Illinois. She was the daughter of the late Glen and Florence (Griffin) Strow. She was raised in Illinois and was a graduate of St. Bernice High School in 1946. She later moved to Kingman and has resided in Mellott since 1988.

 

Faye formerly worked as a cook at Midway Texaco at Centennial. She worked most of her life as a homemaker and caregiver. More recently she had served as a bus driver for 12 years at Southeast Fountain Schools.

She was a member of the Hillsboro Nazarene Church and loved her church family. She also was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary of Kingman. She was an avid gardener and enjoyed taking care of her yard. She was noted for her pie baking skills.

Faye was first married to Kenneth York on Sept. 18, 1948, in Kentucky. Kenneth preceded her in death Dec. 23, 1999. Faye married Robert Emerson DeAth on July 16, 1988, at Veedersburg. Robert preceded her in death March 10, 2007.

Faye leaves behind her two sons, LeRoy (Rosemary) York, Kingman, and Leland York of Danville, Illinois; daughter-in-law Kathy York, Yorktown; step-daughter Rita (H.G.) Ratcliff, Covington; two step-sons, Bob DeAth, Hillsboro, and Greg (Janice) DeAth, Fairfield, Iowa; sister Erma McConkey, Paris, Illinois; six grandchildren, Troy (Jamie) York, Todd (Tammy) York, Heather (Ax) Tuttle, Drew York, Greg (Amanda) York and Dan (Jeana) York; 10 great-grandchildren, Cora and Harper York, Eric York, Jolee (Terry) Gregory, Willow Tuttle and Maverick Tuttle, Alexia Anderson, Ashton Anderson, Remington York and Hayes York; two great-great-grandchildren, Marcey Gregory and Landry Gregory; step-grandchildren, Kylene (Josh) Crabb, B.J. (Laura) DeAth, Bob Kemp, Mary Kemp, Sherry Kemp, Jennifer (Jake) Dresden and Jamie (Todd) Reifsteck; and step-great-grandchildren, Colton, Kinly and Nolan Crabb, Wyatt, Lucy and Lily DeAth, Alex, Jacob, Jackson and Eli Kemp, Margo and Etta Dresden, Jackson, Maxwell and Samuel Weaton and Madison Reifsteck.

She was preceded in death by two infant children; son Leon York; granddaughter Elizabeth York; great-grandson Cody York; three brothers, Harold, Joseph and Arthur Strow; along with sister Alma Titus.

Friends may call at Maus Funeral Home, Hillsboro, on Monday, Jan. 17 from 11 a.m. until service time at 1 p.m., with Pastor Greg McDonald officiating. Burial will follow in the Kingman Fraternal Cemetery, Kingman.
