Douglas Eugene Falting, 87, of Waynetown passed away Thursday, Jan. 27, 2022, at Whitlock Place in Crawfordsville.

He was born Aug. 9, 1934, at Charlevoix, Michigan, to the late Arthur and Joy (Crandell) Falting.

 

Doug graduated from Charlevoix County School in 1952 and also graduated from Brescia University in Owensboro, Kentucky. He proudly served his country in the United States Army 101 Airborne Division as a Paratrooper and was also a MP. He was a Kentucky State Trooper for 10 years then worked in agricultural sales. He enjoyed golfing, listening to blue grass music, square dancing, he loved his dogs, and spending time with his family. He always had a story to tell you and never knew a stranger. He will be missed dearly by his family and friends.

On Dec. 31, 1954, he married the love of his life, Helen Morine Hightower, who preceded him in death March 30, 2013.

He is survived by his three daughters, Donna and Rick Hansen of Terre Haute, Pam and Kevin Kellison of Yountsville and Amy and Brett Bollinger of Beulah, Colorado; brother Art and Jane Falting of Charlevoix, Michigan; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Helen; three brothers, Dick, Bill and Don Falting; and sister Beverly Falting.

Cremation was chosen with a graveside service at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 12 at the Waynetown Masonic Cemetery, with Pastor Loren Stephens officiating.
