Donovan ‘Van’ David Johnson

Donovan “Van” David Johnson, 16, of Crawfordsville passed away Friday, Feb. 4, 2022, from injuries sustained in a car accident.
He was born April 29, 2005, at Lafayette, to Chad and Amy (Lacy) Johnson.
Van was a junior at Southmont High School and studied broadcast journalism, was the track manager, worked at Starbucks, and loved spending time with his family and friends. He was a collector of all things, was an avid Goodwill shopper, and loved his car. He was a very outgoing and caring, and was loved by everyone. He will be missed by many.
He is survived by his parents, Chad and Amy Johnson of Crawfordsville; sister Ally (Kole) Bort of North Carolina; paternal grandparents, Dave and Meg Johnson of Ladoga; aunts and uncles, Connie (Dave) Casselman, John (Liz) Lacy, Linda Stark and Lisa (Matt) Chandler; cousins, Elijah, Cort and Elle; and best friends, Brooke Ellenberger, Nick Curtis and Joey Riggens.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Sally Lacy and Bob Pickering; uncle Andrew Lacy; and great-grandparents, Donald and Ruth Johnson, Hugh and Ruth Detchon, Donald and Ruby Games and Marvin and Cozette Lacy.
Visitation will be at Whitesville Christian Church, 3603 S. Ladoga Road, Crawfordsville, on Thursday, Feb. 10 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. The funeral service will be at the church at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 11, with Pastor Mike Whitacre officiating. The service will be live-steamed and can be viewed on Donovan’s obituary page at www.sandersfuneralcare.com. Burial will follow at Ladoga Cemetery.
