Lois Carolyn Hunter Heimendinger

Lois Carolyn Hunter Heimendinger, 85, passed away Jan. 4, 2022, at Franciscan Health Lafayette East, with her husband and granddaughter by her side.
Lois was born Sept. 23, 1936, at Baltimore, Maryland, the daughter of John (Jack) William and Hulda (Treumbauer) Hunter.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother Jack Hunter Jr.; and two sons, Steve and Mike Petrulionis.
She was a dedicated nurse. She graduated from Church Home Hospital School of Nursing in 1957.
She married Joseph M. Petrulionis, Jr. They had three sons Joe, Steve and Mike Petrulionis. They were later divorced. Upon graduation from Church Home Hospital, she went to work for the hospital. She then went to work for a baby doctor helping to deliver babies.
She then moved to Alabama, working first as a school nurse, then working for the state health department’s TB eradication project.
On Nov. 5, 1970, she met Kip Heimendinger. On Nov. 5, 1971, they were married. They had a son, Mark Heimendinger. They moved to Winter Haven, Florida, where Lois went to work in a nursing home.
In 1997 they moved to Crawfordsville, where Lois worked in several nursing homes both as a nurse and as director of nursing in Crawfordsville, Lafayette, Covington and Mulberry. She retired from nursing in 2005, her last job being with Generations at the Crawfordsville hospital.
She and her husband, Kip, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Nov. 5, 2021, two months before her death.
Memorials can be given to Christ Lutheran Church or Riley’s Children’s Hospital.
