Michael Andrew Gurney

Michael Andrew Gurney, an avid gamer and selfless soul. Michael’s love for life did not come to an end with his passing. Michael passed away on March 2, 2022, at the age of 30 after a long and very courageous battle with COVID-19 and neumonia that ended with Michael donating a part of himself to save multiple lives. His legacy will continue to play on in the lives of those he saved as well as his numerous near and dear family and friends he has impacted with his kindness and love.

Michael is survived by his parents, Shannon and James Gurney; brother Brandon Gurney; sister and nephew, Miranda Gurney and boyfriend Steven Ruano (mom, Annie Lou Von Mizener), their son Chevy Ruano; girlfriend Cayte Brown; maternal grandmother Glenda Sue Collins (Shrout); aunt Freida Dozier; and cousins, Ryan Moore, Marc Jost, Keith Jost, Chad Gurney, Matthew Gurney, Shelby Gurney, Bryan Moore, Caylie Moore, Bailie Moore, Mark Poynter, Kyle Poynter, and many more second cousins.

Michael was preceded in death by paternal grandparents, Dixie and H.A. Gurney; maternal grandfather Clifford Poynter; and cousin Nickolus Lee Poynter.

Funeral service for Michael will be at 6 p.m. Tuesday, March 8 at Servies & Morgan Funeral Home, 102 E. Washington St., Roachdale. Friends are invited for a time of visitation 4-6 p.m. Tuesday prior to the service.
