Marilyn Bott

Marilyn Bott, 82, of Brazil left this world to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Monday, April 4, 2022.
She was born October 15, 1939 in Brazil, the daughter of Charlotte Raybould Miller and Burton Miller, both deceased. Marilyn graduated from Brazil High School, class of 1957 and went on to earn her teaching degree from Indiana State University, she earned her Bachelors Degree in 1963, and her Masters in Education in 1966. She taught business and typing at Sheridan, Greencastle, and Clay City High Schools at various points in her life.
Marilyn married Oren Earle Bott, also of Brazil, at the newly built First Christian Church on its dedication Sunday, July 31, 1966. They have been together for over 56 years.
Besides the roles of wife and teacher, throughout her lifetime, Marilyn was also a mother, friend, vocalist in her church and extension homemaker choirs, 50 year member of the Jackson Township Better Homes Extension Club, antique collector and exhibitor at the Indiana State Fair, and owner of Bott Antiques for over 30 years.
Marilyn was also an avid reader and lifelong learner. She loved to read and study the Bible and biblical history and also had a special affinity for the books of Gene Stratton Porter, an Indiana author and naturalist.
Marilyn is survived by her husband Oren, as well as her daughter Elaine (Brad) Wise of Selma, Indiana.
A visitation will be held Friday, April 8th from 5-7 PM at French Funeral Home, 421 E National Avenue in Brazil. A second visitation will be held at the funeral home from 10-11 AM on Saturday with a funeral service beginning at 11 AM officiated by Pastor Chris Gregg. Burial will follow at Summit Lawn Cemetery.
