Albert C. Parker

May 7, 1932-March 10, 2022

Albert C. Parker, formerly of Shannondale, died March 10, 2022, in Sun City, Arizona. He was born May 7, 1932, to William Clyde and Maurine Anna Sump Parker, in a farm house of Ben and Fannie Stith, near Shannondale.

Albert attended Darlington school for 12 years, graduating in spring of 1950. Then attended Indiana University and graduated from Indiana Business College in 1952.

He worked for Kraft Foods in July 1952 in Indianapolis and retired from Kraft in June 1989 in Glenview, Illinois. During his time with Kraft he also worked in Huntington, West Virginia, Cincinnatti, Ohio and finished his career working in their headquarters in the Chicago area. He then moved to Phoenix, Arizona, where it did not snow or get very cold.

Albert was very active in the Jaycees, participating in many civic programs and also served as an officer for several years. In Cincinnati he became involved with Big Brothers and ended up with two “little brothers.” Mike Hogeback, the older of the boys, became like a son and lived with him from age 13 until Mike went to college.

Albert enjoyed fishing and mushroom hunting as a youth. After retirement he enjoyed hiking all over the state of Arizona as well as many other western states, Switzerland, Austria and Italy. He hiked every National Park west of the Mississippi River plus many National Monuments. He loved to travel visiting more than 35 countries.

Albert was a member of the Shannondale Bethel Presbyterian Church.

He is survived by sister Dee Timmons, Colfax; brother Keith (Patty) Parker of Hopkinsville, Kentucky; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother in-law Bill Timmons.

A private service at Greenlawn cemetery in Darlington will be held at a future date.
