Walter J. Otenburg

Walter J. Otenburg, 84, of Waynesburg, Kentucky, and formerly of Crawfordsville, passed away Sunday, Feb. 20, 2022, at the Ephraim McDowell Hospital in Danville, Kentucky.

He was the husband of Deborah C. (Wilson) Otenburg, whom he married on March 13, 1971. Walter was born Jan. 27, 1938, at Jamestown, to the late Walter Gerald and Emma K. Otenburg.

He had worked in the construction industry building pole barns and working in the salvage yard. Walter enjoyed working and talking about cars and enjoyed watching NASCAR.

Survivors include: his loving wife of 50 years, Deborah Otenburg; a special grandson, Eric Johnston; and several close family members, including his five sisters-in-law, Linda Scott, Margaret Scott, Cheryl (Wesley) Baker, Trudy (Ron) Earley and Rita (Elvie) Dowell, brother-in-law Jeff (Denise) Wilson and special cousins, Donna Napiwocki, Donnie (Denise) Otenburg, Jackie Buckley, Linda Bauer and Judy Kaye (Greg) Norman. Numerous nephews, nieces, cousins and other family members also survive.

In addition to his parents, Walter was preceded in death by sister Marilyn K. Poynter and brothers, Richard and William Scott.

Cremation rites have been honored and a memorial service will be held 2-4 p.m. Saturday, April 23 at Grace & Mercy Ministries in Crawfordsville, 257 W. Oak Hill Road.
