Jo Ann Frye

Jo Ann Frye, 86, went to be with the Lord on Friday, April 22, 2022, at Hickory Creek, Crawfordsville.

She was born in Monticello, Kentucky; a daughter of the late Evelyn Sumpter.

She attended schools in Kentucky. On June 30, 1956, she married George Edward Frye in Monticello, Kentucky; they had shared 65 loving years together before his recent passing Nov. 11, 2021.

Jo Ann was a skilled seamstress who worked at a sewing factory in Kentucky and once she moved to Jamestown, she worked at the Thorntown Sewing Factory and Crestline Window Factory in Ladoga.

A devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Jo Ann was a faithful servant who attended the Church of Christ in Jamestown. She also enjoyed playing cards with friends and jigsaw puzzles.

She leaves behind two sons, John (Dawn) Frye of Waynetown and Jeff (Debbie) Frye of Crawfordsville; three grandchildren, Chris Frye, Heather Durell and Bethany Frye; seven great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law Betty Sumpter.

In addition to her parents and husband, Jo Ann was preceded in death by brother Gilbert Sumpter.

Funeral services are to be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 27 at Porter & Hunt Funeral Home, 315 W. Main St., Jamestown. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until the time of service on Wednesday at the funeral home. Interment will follow services at I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Jamestown.
