Thomas Henry James

June 24, 1940 - April 29, 2022

 

Thomas Henry James, 81, lifelong resident of Clay County, passed away on April 29, 2022 following a lengthy illness.

Tom was born on June 24, 1940, in Knightsville, Indiana, the son of Ross and Emma (Stevenson) James. He graduated from Van Buren High School with the class of 1958. He served his country in the Army National Guard for several years. Tom worked for Arketex Clay Plant for a few years before working in the Aluminum manufacturing industry until his retirement.

When he wasn’t working, Tom enjoyed playing golf and poker and his dogs. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, the Zorah Shrine, the American Legion, and is a former member of the Brazil Elks Lodge.

He was preceded in death by his parents Ross and Emma James, his wife Phyllis James; his siblings: Robert James, Doris Johnson, Mary Francis Rutherford, Jean Ensley, Janet Bledsoe, Tish Autison, Pat James, John James, Web James, and a sister in infancy; two nephews Jeff James and Rob Autison and a niece Joyce Lawrence

Survivors include two daughters Kimberly Montague and husband Mike and Jayme James; a son Parry James; grandchildren: Taylor Montague (Katie) and Samantha Frankville (Austin); sister Sandy Ames (Tom); brother Tub James (Donna); sister-in-law Carolyn Garrigus (Lowell), a beloved dog Teddy; as well as several nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

Visitation will be at Lawson – Miller Chapel 1702 E. National Ave. Brazil, Indiana, on Tuesday, May 3, 2022 from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM. Services will follow, with masonic services and military rites, at 1:00 PM with Pastor Doug Parkey.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Shriner's Hospital One Children’s Plaza - 2 West Dayton, Ohio 45404, United States.
