Betty Jean Giddings

JUNE 28, 1920 – JUNE 19, 2022

Betty Jean Giddings, 101, of Greencastle passed away on Sunday, June 19, 2022, at Autumn Glen.

Betty was born in Platte, South Dakota on June 28, 1920, the daughter of Wilbur D. and Fanlou (Priest) Grimes, and was a 1938 graduate of Greencastle High School.

Mrs. Giddings worked for over 30 years with Greencastle Federal Savings and Loan, now Old National Bank. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, and a former member of First Christian Disciples of Christ, and Women’s Organization.

Survivors include her daughter, Nancy Noel, (husband-Richard “Dick”), Tarpon Springs, Florida; a son, Lawrence D. “Larry” Giddings, (wife-Ann), Newmarket, New Hampshire; four grandchildren, Christopher Giddings, Gretchen Stark, (husband-Jeremy), Tom Noel, (wife-Kelly), and Brandie Jessie; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lawrence Murl Giddings; three brothers, Jerry, Robert and Keith Grimes; and two sisters, Winifred Neal and Mary Frances Straight.

Services will be held on 1:00 p.m. Friday, June 24, 2022, at Bittles and Hurt Funeral Home with Reverend Libby Manning officiating. Entombment will follow in Forest Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. until time of service Friday.
