Ward Harold Hackleman

November 1, 1928 - June 26, 2022

Mr. Ward Harold Hackleman, 93, of Roachdale, Indiana, passed away Sunday, June 26, 2022, at Independence Village of Avon.  He was born on November 1, 1928, in Indianapolis, Indiana, a son of the late Wayne H. and Nina A. (Reed) Hackleman.

On November 3, 1950, he was united in marriage to Diana (Mandara) Hackleman; she survives.  

Ward was a graduate of Speedway High School. Following high school, he served his country honorably in the United States Airforce.  He had a strong passion for working on and rebuilding cars. In 1962 he left his factory job to make his dream a reality and Hackleman Auto Collision Repair began in Whitestown, Indiana. Ward was proud that Hackleman Auto was continued by a third generation. He retired in 1994. 

He was a member of the American Legions in Zionsville and Danville. He was also a member of the Indiana Home Built Aircraftsman Association. Ward was a devoted husband, father, and PaPa. In addition to being a skilled craftsman, he enjoyed vegetable and flowering gardening, target shooting, auto racing, and reading.

Survivors include his wife: Diana Hackleman of Avon; three sons, John (Suzie) Hackleman of Crawfordsville, Ron Hackleman of Danville, Brad (Deborah) Hackleman of New Ross; nine grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren; one great-great grandson; sister, Norma Wolff of Ames, Iowa; cousin, Marthena J. Smith.              

In addition to his parents, Ward was preceded in death by a brother, John H. Hackleman.
