Joan Williamson

Joan Elizabeth Heidenreich Williamson passed away Saturday, August 6, 2022, at the age of 86.  Joan was born September 2, 1935, in Kingston, New York to Reverend John F. and Bernice Heidenreich.  Being the daughter of a minister, she had the opportunity to move to the various communities of his parishes in Kingston, Oxford and finally Riverhead, Long Island, New York.

Joan was a very accomplished young woman.  She was a talented artist and played cello for the high school orchestra.  Upon graduating from high school, she was awarded three different college scholarships.

In 1952 she met and married her future husband, Bob Williamson during his enlistment in the Air Force.  He had come to visit her father’s church, was invited for a meal and they soon fell in love.  They spent a lifetime together building a family and homes across central Indiana.  They had four children.  She enjoyed 56 years together with her true love until Bob’s passing in 2008.

She was a devoted wife, beloved mother, and dedicated church worker.  She had a love of learning and a of lifetime reading.  She shared her time and talent with everyone she met.   She worked at various jobs throughout her life to support the family.  She sacrificed to help those who she loved.

Joan also loved music, needlework, nature and to travel.  She spent countless hours in researching family history.  From her membership in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints she developed her belief in the eternal nature of families and the importance of those relationships.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert M. Williamson, and a grandson, Alex Coers.  She is survived by brothers, Paul and Fred Heidenreich; daughters, Cheryl Lynn Hayes and Pamela Joan Redmond; and sons, Gregg Robert and John Bradley Williamson.  She also leaves 10 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

Final arrangements are being handled by Porter and Hunt Funeral Home & Crematory in North Salem, Indiana.  Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 13, 2022, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints meetinghouse, 280 E. County Road 300 South, in Greencastle, Indiana.  A private dedication of the grave at the Clinton Falls Cemetery will follow.
