Terry M. Clifford

July 6, 1951 ~ August 24, 2022 (age 71)

 

               Terry Clifford, the 2022 Indiana State Fair Board President, life-long farmer and friend of agriculture, was a life-long resident of Belle Union, IN, passed away unexpectedly on August 24th, 2022 at the age of 71 on his beloved farm.

                Terry is survived by his wife Yvonne (Polter)Clifford; his mother Norma (Smith)Clifford and mother-in-law Ruth Polter; his children Adrianna Clifford and fiancé Logan Ross; Amanda Ferguson, Amber(David) Lightle, Karen Lee Clifford, and Sharon(Doug) Clifford; his grandchildren Zoe Ferguson, Arabella Lightle, Aileana Lightle, David T. Lightle, Savannah Lightle, Dustin Tincher, Nicholas Scott, Dalton Scott and Brooke Bowen.  Also, his special dear friend Mark Wingler.  He was preceded in death by his father Marvin W. Clifford and father-in-law Herschel Polter.

                Terry was born at Putnam County Hospital on July 6th, 1951.  He graduated from Fillmore High School in 1969.  Over his long influential life he ran his feed mill in Cloverdale, farmed, worked for the Indiana State Fair and drove a school bus for South Putnam.  Also, president of the Putnam County Sheriffs Merritt Board for 17 years.  On December 20th, 1997 he married his beloved Yvonne.

                Terry was a devoted Father and Pappy.  He loved sharing his passion for livestock and farming.  There wasn’t a day he didn’t go out of his way to help better the lives of our kids in 4-H and the FFA.  He could talk for hours about his red tractors.  There wasn’t a problem he couldn’t solve especially if it involved his ag kids.  He was a spiritual man and involved in many church activities, one being the lead elder at Cloverdale Christian Church.  He will be deeply missed by his family, friends and all who knews him.

                Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, August 31st, 2022 at 6:00pm, Cloverdale Christian Church, 11961 South St. Rd. 42, Cloverdale, IN 46120.  Visitation will be held from 2:00pm until service time at the church.  Condolence’s may be made at www.whitakerfuneralhome.net.  In lieu of flowers the family asks donations be made to the scholarship in Terry’s name.  https://33523.thankyou4caring.org/
