Benny Hoggatt

February 9, 1934  -  August 30, 2022

Eldon “Benny” Emmerson Hoggatt, 88, of Staunton, Indiana, passed away at Hudson Woods on August 30, 2022, following an extended illness.

Benny was born on February 9, 1934, in Vigo County, Indiana the son of Andrew and Mary (Lowe) Hoggatt. He graduated from Staunton High School with the class of 1952. Benny was drafted into the United States Army where he served until medically discharged. He married Carolyn Jane Robinson on May 6, 1962. Benny owned and operated B and W Mobile in Staunton for 42 years.

He was a member of the Posey Volunteer Fire Department and served as the Staunton Town Marshall for several years.

When he wasn’t working, he enjoyed fishing, sprint car racing, and hunting.

He was preceded in death by his parents Andrew and Mary Hoggatt; siblings Rosemay Royer and Ruthanne Presnell; and a son Benny Joe Hoggatt.

He is survived by his wife Carolyn Hoggatt; his children: Veronica Hall (John) of Marshall, Indiana, Tony Hoggatt of Staunton, and Dee Smith of Staunton; grandchildren: Tia Price (Mike), Michael Hall (Emilee), J.D. Hall (Sheila), Tiffany Felchlia (Byron), and Rick Smith (Shawna); great-grandchildren: Cullen, Aya, Noah, Mitt, Karlie, Kaylie, Lauren, Macie, Rikki, and River; a brother Gerald Hoggatt; as well as several nieces, nephews, and extended family members and friends.

Visitation will be at Lawson Miller Chapel 1702 E. National Ave. Brazil, Indiana 47834, on Tuesday, September 6, 2022 from 5-7 PM. Services will follow at 7:00 PM with Pastor Doug Parkey officiating.
