Marilyn "Sue" Benassi

February 21, 1954 ~ September 8, 2022 (age 68)

Marilyn “Sue” Benassi, passed away September 8th, 2022.  Sue was born in Greencastle, IN on February 21,1954 to John L. Best & Wilma J (Rains) Best. She was a 1972 graduate of South Putnam High School.  Many people may know her from Alan Stanley & Associates (ASA Land Surveying) where she worked for 45 years. 

She married Bob Benassi on July 27, 1973 and he survives.  She loved spending time with her granddaughter, Bailey. She never missed an Indiana Pacer game and enjoyed watching the Indianapolis Colts. She was one of Reba McEntire's biggest fans, she had seen her in concert 60 times since 1993.  Survivors include her bonus mother, Georgia Best; daughter Jenny Sutherlin (Travis) and the light of her life, her granddaughter Bailey Ann; a sister Debra Underwood (Randy) and bonus sisters Shirley Warren and Donna Bridgewater (Jeff). In laws; Paula and Joe Martin, Mark and Zaida Benassi and Ron and Marie Benassi. Special niece Jill Albers (Aaron), great nephew Brayden Morse and multiple nieces, nephews and cousins. 4 step siblings Sue Walentosky, Carrie Downey, Rita Hollingsworth & Lewis Chambers Jr. Also, her best friend since first grade Barb Plessinger Parker.

She was preceded in death by her parents; John Best and Wilma Chambers and her bonus father Lewis Chambers.

And a special thank you to family friend and caregiver Beth Krampe.  Funeral Services for Sue will be held Thursday, September 15th, 2022 at 1:00pm, Whitaker Funeral Home, Cloverdale.  Visitation will be from 11:00am until service time.  Burial will follow in Boone-Hutcheson Cemetery, Greencastle.  Condolences may be made at www.whitakerfuneralhome.net
